In 1988, the Caron brothers launched Trica with a dream. They built it into a successful company from the ground up. Even with the growth they have experienced, Trica still feels like a family. Quality control. All of their designs have been submitted with success to the Quality Control Test of 36500 cycles simulating a 250 pound / 114 kg person sitting down and standing up 10 times a day, 365 days a year, during 10 years.

Design. Yvan Babin was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1960. After a period in Europe, he returned to Montreal to study design at the Université du Québec à Montréal. He has been active professionally in Quebec since 1989. He worked for various companies, making both residential and office furniture, and then discovered an interest in packaging. Working on this smaller scale, he created kitchen ensembles (spice racks, oil and vinegar sets of all kinds that were sold all over the world), using steel rods and sheet metal. Open to cultural and technical influences, he has always been characterized by his innovative work. Returning to furniture, Yvan Babin worked for Trica, developing chairs and stools, which are the company's specialty. His approach is functional and technology-based (3-D virtual design, finite element analysis, etc.), and respects different clients' aesthetic expectations. "You have to take the delicacy of the tubes and sheets into account when you're making transitional and contemporary furniture. It's a stimulating challenge." The combination of materials as varied as casting, wood, plastics (polypropylene, acrylic, polycarbonate) and steel (sheet or tube) allows him to explore and evolve in his creative work. His success lies in combining the various styles to create a stool that is comfortable, pivoting and adjustable.
